Scarlett Johansson, a two-time Oscar nominee, is in discussions to join the Gareth Edwards-directed Jurassic World reboot at Universal. This news has been circulating for some time and seems to be solidifying. The new project puts Johansson in business with another major movie franchise following her Black Widow days at Marvel, which led to the star suing Disney over the 2021 pandemic release of the film.

Universal is moving quickly to assemble the project for a release date of July 2, 2025. David Koepp, who adapted the first Jurassic Park from Michael Crichton’s classic novel, is working on the latest iteration of Jurassic World. The new movie promises a fresh take on the Jurassic era, with original cast members Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, and Sam Neill not expected to return.

Jurassic World will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment, with production by Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley through Kennedy-Marshall. The film is being overseen by Sara Scott and Jacqueline Garell at Uni. The Jurassic Park franchise is over 30 years old and has grossed over $5.67 billion worldwide, with multiple sequels and spin-offs released over the years.

Johansson has been nominated for Best Actress and Supporting Actress for her roles in Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit respectively. This news about Johansson potentially joining Jurassic World was first reported by InSneider.
