During a recent episode of Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update,” Michael Che made another joke at the expense of women’s sports. This time, he joked about the University of Iowa announcing that basketball star Caitlin Clark would have her jersey retired and replaced with an apron. The joke received a mixed reaction, with groans quickly followed by laughter when Clark herself joined Che and Colin Jost at the desk.

Clark didn’t let Che off the hook, questioning his supposed fandom after the apron joke. She pointed out that he frequently makes jokes at the expense of women’s sports. Jost chimed in, agreeing that there have been several instances where Che has targeted women’s sports with his humor. Despite their differences, Che and Clark exchanged roles briefly, with Clark presenting Che with some jokes to read. He reluctantly read out a couple of jokes, including one referencing Purdue University and another poking fun at his own comedy special. In the end, Clark gifted Che with an apron, which she autographed and cheekily noted that he doesn’t have a girlfriend to give it to.
