The Center for Health and Prevention, or “The Center,” has recently expanded its range of services with the addition of a mobile health care clinic. This new Health Care on Wheels clinic is designed to provide high-quality, compassionate, and confidential sexual and reproductive health care services throughout the county. Its goal is to reach underserved populations, including low-income individuals and those experiencing homelessness who may struggle to access traditional health care services.

Kayla Wilburn, clinic director at CAPSLO, emphasized the importance of providing care to those in need, regardless of their family size or income. She explained that the mobile clinic will visit locations where people encounter economic, geographic, or systemic obstacles to accessing sexual and reproductive health services. Services will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis to ensure that those in need receive timely care.

The launch of the mobile clinic was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, tours of the clinic, a community resource fair, and a complimentary lunch for attendees. The event was made possible through a grant from the San Luis Obispo County Office of Public Health, highlighting the collaborative effort to improve access to essential health care services for all community members.
