Rising Stars of High School Basketball: Iowa’s Top Players Compete for Recognition at SCHEELS Awards

The Iowa High School Sports Awards, proudly presented by SCHEELS, has announced the nominees for the Boys Basketball Player of the Year. This award is sponsored by Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company and is part of a nine-month student-athlete recognition program that includes 20 regional shows across the United States.

During the live show on June 10 at Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines, nominees will be recognized alongside winners from the 21 other recognized sports. Premier awards will be showcased for both on- and off-the-field achievements.

Nominated athletes who confirm their attendance will receive complimentary tickets to the event, thanks to the generosity of sponsors. Guests of nominated athletes can purchase tickets separately. The nominees for Boys Basketball Player of the Year include Joseph Bean from Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Mason Bechen from North Linn, Carson Johnson from Ankeny, Curtis Stinson Jr. from Valley, Jesse Van Kalsbeek from MOC-Floyd Valley, and Kaden Van Regenmorter from Western Christian.
