T’Vondre Sweat, a former Texas defensive tackle and a top draft prospect at his position, was arrested in Austin on Sunday and charged with driving while intoxicated. Sweat, 22, was taken into custody by Austin police and booked into Travis County jail at 2:12 p.m. The charge of driving while intoxicated is considered a Class B misdemeanor, and his bond was set at $3,000.

Despite his successful college football career, which included earning Big 12 defensive player of the year honors and winning the Outland Trophy as the best interior lineman in college football last season, Sweat’s NFL draft projection is uncertain due to the recent legal issues. Originally projected as a first- or second-round pick in the NFL draft scheduled for April 25-27, the arrest could potentially affect his draft position and overall draft stock.

Sweat had an impressive college football career, recording a career-high 45 tackles, 18 solo tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, four pass breakups, one blocked kick, and even a two-yard touchdown reception while starting eight of 14 games for the Longhorns in 2023. However, these legal issues could impact his future in professional football as he navigates the legal process and potential consequences of the recent arrest.
