The Ministry of Health has recently introduced a reform in the distribution of medical equipment, ensuring that devices will be provided directly from the health fund. This change aims to streamline the process and improve access to essential equipment for patients.

A recent report has brought attention to disparities in the healthcare system, with more people dying in remote areas. This underscores the need for reforms and improvements in healthcare services in these regions.

Prof. Shaul Thazif, Director of the Licensing Division of Medical Professions at the Ministry of Health, has been advocating for regulatory changes for 14 years. The current Minister of Health is taking steps to promote the drafting and regulation of these laws, including transitional provisions for those currently working in the healthcare field in Israel.

During a recent committee meeting, amendments to the law regulating health professions were discussed. Transitional provisions have been added to recognize studies completed abroad and ease requirements for exams, practical training, and supervised work for individuals already working in Israel’s healthcare sector. These changes aim to encourage immigration and absorption into the field.

The committee also addressed regulations related to exam subjects, supervised work requirements, permits, and practical training completion for certification. A two-year postponement on enforcing a ban on unauthorized individuals claiming to be chiropractors has been implemented due to new regulations’ need for time for organizations’ compliance.

Dr. Yitzhak Cohen emphasized the importance of practical training in obtaining certification as a chiropractor during his address at the Israeli Chiropractic Association’s directorate meeting earlier this year. Meanwhile, MK Yoni Meshriki (Shas) stressed that further regulation is necessary to combat fraudulent professionals and charlatans operating within complementary medicine fields in Israel.

In conclusion, both regulatory changes and increased scrutiny are necessary to ensure that patients receive quality care across all regions of Israel’s healthcare system while preventing fraudulent professionals from operating within it.
