At Ratio, we pride ourselves on creating products that are both efficient and effective. And our latest product, the Ovalsized™ Jockey Wheels, is no exception. Using biomimicry techniques inspired by dinosaur eggs, we’ve optimized the local curvature at a continuum of points around each jockey’s circumference for maximum efficiency. Each 20 tooth jockey wheel is specifically designed for use with a 40 tooth chainring, achieving peak efficiency four times per cycle and helping you over top dead centre. The variable chain take-up also preloads the derailleur’s cage spring, increasing chain tension to propel you forward. However, it’s important to note that as the Ovalsized™ jockeys induce cyclic variations in B gap, shifting should only be done when the upper jockey wheel is at 67 degrees rotation relative to datum for peak shift performance.
While it may take some getting used to at first, the Ratio Ovalsized™ Jockey Wheel system is now available on our website ratiotechnology.com for £1,234/€3,421/$3,142. Coming soon are ceramic Ovalsized™ Jockey Wheels in porcelain, terracotta and bone china options. Note that we cannot warranty terracotta and do not recommend dropping any of them.
