On February 7, 2023, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, made headlines during President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address when she was seen yelling in the House Chamber of the U.S. Capitol. This incident was captured in a photo by Tom Williams/CQ-Roll Call, Inc via Getty Images.

In a separate development, a 4.8 magnitude earthquake hit the northeastern United States on a Friday morning. Greene responded to this news by stating that it was a sign from God and that Americans needed to “repent.” She described herself as a Christian nationalist and believed that events like the earthquake were messages from the divine urging people to reflect and seek forgiveness.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located roughly 30 miles west of Newark, making it one of the largest recorded seismic activities in New Jersey’s history. Meanwhile, Greene took to social media to express her interpretation of the natural phenomenon as a spiritual call to action for the nation.

Looking ahead, a total solar eclipse is expected to be visible in certain parts of the United States on April 8, although it is unrelated to the earthquake event. Additionally, Speaker Mike Johnson has scheduled for Congress to reconvene after its recess with plans to address legislation for supporting Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.

Greene had previously launched a “motion to vacate” against Speaker Johnson in order to express opposition to potential support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. However, her party members were hesitant to support her stance considering the divisions that had arisen during previous leadership decisions in 2023. Despite attempts by Greene’s allies and mainstream Republicans to align more closely with her earlier controversial behavior
