Dave McCarty, a former Boston Red Sox player and member of the 2004 World Series championship team, has passed away at the age of 54 in California after suffering a cardiac event. McCarty played three seasons with the Red Sox, following stints with seven other teams. He was a first baseman and outfielder who represented teams such as the San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, and Oakland Athletics during his 11-year MLB career.

After retiring from baseball, McCarty worked as a Red Sox TV analyst for New England Sports Network. His former teammate, Lenny DiNardo, paid tribute to McCarty on social media, calling him a great guy and expressing his sadness at the news. The baseball community has been saddened by McCarty’s passing, especially those who knew and played with him. The Red Sox organization released a statement expressing their condolences to McCarty’s family and honoring his contributions to the team during his time with them.
