The Green Bay Packers have announced the passing of former offensive line coach Larry Beightol, who died at the age of 81 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Beightol served as the Packers’ offensive line coach from 1999 to 2005 under Mike Sherman. During his tenure with the team, he mentored four players who went on to be inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame: center Frank Winters, guard Marco Rivera, and tackles Chad Clifton and Mark Tauscher.

Beightol began his coaching career in 1968 at the College of William & Mary before moving on to Louisiana Tech in 1979. Despite a difficult start as a head coach there, where he had a 2-8 record, Beightol continued to work with offensive linemen for eight NFL teams throughout his career. These teams included the Falcons in 1986, Buccaneers from 1987-1988, Chargers in 1989, Jets from 1990-1994, Oilers in 1995, Dolphins from 1996-
