At the Italy’s National Youth Criteria competition, Sara Curtis from Italy broke three records in the short course meter 50 back event with a time of 26.08. She surpassed the previous World Junior record of 26.13 set by Olivia Smoliga in 2012, as well as the Italian and European Junior records held by Silvia Scalia and Maria Kameneva, respectively. Curtis also won the 100 back event at the competition, clocking in at 58.05, and was the only swimmer to finish in under a minute.

Curtis’s outstanding performance in the 50 back event allowed her to break her own previous best time of 26.77, as well as Smoliga’s World Junior record of 26.12 and Kameneva’s European Junior record of 26.15. Her success at the National Youth Criteria competition reflects her incredible talent and dedication to the sport, making her a standout among young swimmers today.
