The 44th London Marathon, which took place on Sunday, was a remarkable event in every sense. With a record-breaking number of over 53,000 runners finishing the race, it was clear that the marathon had captured the hearts and minds of people all over the world.

This year’s marathon saw an impressive increase from the previous year, when just 43,965 runners completed the event. However, it was not just the turnout that made this year’s marathon special. Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir set a women’s-only world record at the event, adding to the excitement of the day.

But it wasn’t just about breaking records for Jepchirchir; she also helped break a fundraising record by raising over £67 million ($82 million) for charity during her run. This total is expected to increase further as more donations come in after the marathon weekend.

The success of this year’s London Marathon was celebrated not only by organizers but also by participants who showed their dedication and determination in completing this grueling race. As Hugh Brasher, event director said “We are thrilled with this outcome and we hope to continue to inspire people around the world to take up running and give back to charity.”

Overall, the 44th London Marathon was a truly inspiring event that showcased not only athletic prowess but also generosity and camaraderie among its participants.
