Richard Childress Racing (RCR) has recently made some competition personnel changes in preparation for their upcoming race at Martinsville Speedway. The team has appointed Justin Alexander as the new crew chief for Austin Dillon’s No. 3 team, replacing Keith Rodden who had joined RCR and the No. 3 team at the start of the 2023 season. Additionally, Joel Keller has been named as the lead engineer for the No. 3 team.

The changes come as RCR gears up for the NASCAR Cup Series program and aims to secure two team spots in the NASCAR Playoffs. Andy Petree, executive vice president of RCR, stated that the organizational changes were implemented to support this goal, expressing gratitude towards Rodden’s leadership of the No. 3 team while acknowledging his continued contributions in his new role within RCR.

Martinsville Speedway holds a special significance to Hendrick Motorsports, which is considered one of the winningest teams in NASCAR history with past victories from drivers like Geoff, Jimmie and now Chase Elliott at this track. With its rich history and tradition, Martinsville Speedway is always a highly anticipated stop on the NASCAR Cup Series calendar.

Dillon currently sits at 28th place in the Cup standings as he heads to Martinsville with one top-20 finish so far this season, placing 16th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. However, he is optimistic about these changes and looking forward to a strong showing in the upcoming races at Martinsville Speedway.
