Chelsea is currently searching for a new manager after the departure of Mauricio Pochettino by mutual consent. The club has already drawn up a list of potential candidates, which includes Kieran McKenna from Ipswich Town, Enzo Maresca from Leicester City, and Thomas Frank from Brentford.
McKenna, who is 38 years old, recently led Ipswich to promotion in the Championship and is reportedly a leading contender for the Chelsea job. However, there are other interested parties such as Brighton and Manchester United, both of whom are also vying for his attention. He would cost upwards of £4 million in compensation.
Maresca, who is 44 years old, was previously successful in guiding Leicester to the Championship title and worked as a coach under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. Frank, a 50-year-old Danish coach, has been successful in getting Brentford promoted to the Premier League and maintaining their position in the top flight.
In addition to these three candidates, Chelsea also has a fourth ‘mystery’ contender on their shortlist. Sebastian Hoeness was previously rumored to be an option but is now expected to stay in Germany.
Chelsea’s players who are not with their national teams will begin pre-season on July 4th and will travel to the United States for a tour under the new management. Last season, Chelsea finished sixth in the Premier League and reached the Carabao Cup final, where they were defeated by Liverpool.
