Princeton freshman Alec Brooke has made a name for himself in the fencing world after winning a silver medal at the Junior World Championships in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on April 15th. In an impressive field of over 200 fencers, Brooke finished as the runner-up after an incredible performance.

During the pool rounds, Brooke had a record of 5-1, placing him in 25th place. But he didn’t let that stop him from making it to the elimination bracket, where he won six consecutive bouts to reach the final. In this closely contested final, Brooke came up short against Alban Aebersold from Switzerland with a score of 15-14.

Brooke’s teammate, Tatiana Nazlymov, also put on an impressive showing at the Junior World Championships. In the women’s saber competition, she finished 15th out of 132 fencers and earned a spot in the Olympics to represent Team USA in both individual and team women’s saber competitions.

Nazlymov had some impressive victories throughout the competition against fencers from Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, and Bulgaria. Despite being eliminated in the round of 16 with a score of 15-12 against Alexandra Kuvaeva from Georgia, Nazlymov showcased her talent and potential in the fencing world.
