In July 2022, speculation surrounding the affair reignited when popular celebrity gossip Instagram account Deux Moi posted a blind item submitted anonymously alleging that a member of the royal family was involved in an affair that was widely known. Many internet users pointed to William as the likely subject of the rumors. Although no official statement was made by the palace, legal action was considered against Deux Moi.
