NIO Opens Smart Driving Technology Center in Berlin, Reinforcing its Commitment to European Expansion

NIO, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer known for its innovative battery swapping technology, has recently opened its first Smart Driving Technology Center in Schönefeld, Germany. The company, founded in 2014, has earned a place in the Top 10: EV Tech Companies due to its cutting-edge technology.

The Smart Driving Technology Center is located in greater Berlin, close to NIO’s Berlin Innovation Center that opened in 2023. These two facilities will collaborate to advance NIO’s technology specifically tailored for the European electric vehicle market. Berlin, a hub for startups and technology, was chosen as the ideal location for NIO to develop Smart Driving solutions that meet the needs of European drivers.

Hui Zhang, Group Vice President at NIO, highlighted the significance of unveiling the European Smart Driving Technology Center in Berlin. He stated that this marked a crucial milestone in NIO’s journey to become a premium global brand. Zhang emphasized that Smart Driving technologies embody NIO’s identity as an innovative smart EV company, focused on delivering tailor-made solutions for European users.

At the Smart Driving Technology Center in Schönefeld, the team will focus on developing vehicle-specific systems that cater to local user needs. Mirko Reuter, NIO’s Senior Director AD, praised the center for its unique combination of automotive and software expertise. He noted that Brandenburg’s infrastructure has positioned the center to be NIO’s central hub for smart and digital development in Europe.
