A 19-year-old Nigerian woman, Lisha Dackor, recently made an attempt to break the world record for painting the most nails in a 72-hour period. With a nail brush in hand, she painted over 4,000 nails at an events centre in Plateau state, northern Nigeria. Dackor adorned hundreds of fingernails with blue, pink, and purple varnish during her three-day marathon which ended on Wednesday.

Lisha Dackor has been working as a nail technician for almost three years and has submitted her evidence to Guinness World Record (GWR) to review her attempt. She hopes to inspire and give hope to single mothers who may feel underestimated. According to GWR rules, Dackor needed to paint 60 fingernails per hour for her attempt to count.

Dackor’s challenge is not just about breaking a world record; it’s also about changing the narrative surrounding teen mothers like herself. She took on this challenge to show that women from northern Nigeria can achieve great things despite the challenges they face. Plateau is located at the intersection of Nigeria’s mainly Muslim north and largely Christian south. The region has faced insecurity and conflict between different ethnic and religious groups, resulting in many deaths over the years.

Despite these challenges, Dackor received support from all ethnic groups while attempting to break the world record. She believes that Plateau is a beautiful place beyond its ethnic issues and hopes her achievement will help change people’s perceptions of the state. It is a moment of pride for Dackor and a step towards putting both women and her home state in the spotlight.
