A new trend in the world of sportfishing is emerging, as a custom yacht undergoes sea trials in the North Sea. The Special One (Project 406), designed by Vripack Yacht Design and built by Royal Husiman, is set to redefine the concept of a big offshore fishing boat. With its 171 feet long aluminum hull and superstructure, this sportfisher on steroids promises an impressive and unique fishing experience.

Bart M. Bouwhuis, Co-Creative Director at Vripack, describes the Special One as a combination of American sportfish boat proportions with a luxurious yacht feel on a grand scale. Its long flaring bow and sleek curves are sure to turn heads as it sails through the waters. Photos of the Special One showcase its well-designed fishing area at the stern, hinting at its ability to handle various fishing experiences from marlin to tuna.

While many sportfishing yachts are part of a larger fleet connected to a superyacht “mothership,” the Special One may pave the way for a new trend of owners seeking a serious offshore sportfishing boat that also serves as a luxurious superyacht. Only time will tell if this yacht sets a new standard for sportfishing yachts in the industry.
