The BBC has appointed Alex Kay-Jelski as the new Director of Sport, replacing Barbara Slater after 14 years in the role. Kay-Jelski, who previously served as the sports editor for both The Times and Daily Mail, is excited to join BBC Sport and work with a talented team. He mentioned that many of his sporting memories have been associated with the BBC and he is eager to influence the future direction of the organization.

Before joining the BBC, Kay-Jelski played a key role in establishing the international arm of The Athletic, a sports subscription website, and helped it gain over a million subscribers in a relatively short period. His experience as a sports editor at leading publications has equipped him with the necessary skills and expertise to lead BBC Sport in the right direction.
