Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has successfully undergone surgery to treat a hernia and is reportedly in excellent health by Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem in Jerusalem. The procedure was successful, and Netanyahu is awake, talking to his family, and in perfect condition according to Alon Pikarsky, the hospital’s director of general surgery.

Netanyahu was diagnosed with a hernia during a routine examination and placed under anesthesia for the surgery. While recovering, Israel’s deputy prime minister and justice minister, Yariv Levin, assumed Netanyahu’s responsibilities during the conflict with Hamas in Gaza.

Despite the surgery, Netanyahu expressed optimism about his recovery and swift return to work. The operation coincided with ongoing negotiations between Israel and Hamas in Cairo to secure the release of Israeli hostages and a ceasefire in the conflict. Netanyahu’s health issues, including a pacemaker fitted for a transient heart block last year, have not deterred his dedication to his duties.

This is not Netanyahu’s first hernia surgery, as he previously underwent a similar procedure in 2013. A hernia is a condition where a gap in the abdominal muscular wall allows organs to protrude outward, potentially causing discomfort or health complications.
