The National Science Foundation, a US agency responsible for driving scientific research, has launched a new program to support Taiwan’s efforts to cultivate key players in strategic sectors such as semiconductors, AI, and other advanced technologies. This initiative aims to connect American startups with Taiwanese counterparts, facilitating collaborations that will foster innovation and drive technological advancements in cutting-edge fields.

As one of the federal government’s largest funders of research, the National Science Foundation is sponsoring a series of workshops overseas for the first time. These workshops are designed to help US startups collaborate with international companies, with Taiwan being the first destination chosen for this program. By providing valuable opportunities for startups to access new markets, resources, and expertise, this program will contribute to the growth and success of both countries’ tech industries.

Taiwan is becoming increasingly important in the global technology supply chain, particularly in the semiconductor industry. The country’s Ministry of Economic Affairs is supporting this initiative, which focuses on identifying and funding companies involved in “deep tech” areas such as biotechnology and quantum computing. By fostering collaborations between American startups and Taiwanese firms, the National Science Foundation hopes to drive innovation and technological advancements in these cutting-edge fields.
