High School Softball and Baseball had exciting games on Monday, April 22. In the softball matches, Eastwood defeated Socorro 3-1 with Miranda Guillen earning the win. Guillen hit a solo homerun, while Gaby DeAnda had a 2-RBI double, securing the 2nd seed for Eastwood in the upcoming playoffs. Meanwhile, Hanks also had a dominating victory over Bel Air with a 10-0 win, earning the 2nd seed from 2-5A for the playoffs.

On the other hand, Ysleta edged out Bel Air with a thrilling 5-4 victory in baseball action on Monday. Derek Licon pitched 3 innings, allowing 2 runs and striking out 5 batters. Leading hitters for Ysleta included Angel Flores, Moré Lozano, and Jacob Lopez, who all contributed to the win. Horizon also had a strong performance with a convincing 10-2 win over Hanks, led by Franklin Miller’s impressive pitching and hitting.

Several other baseball games took place on Monday as well. Riverside defeated Irvin 16-2 with notable performances from Poblano, Bermudez, Fuentes, Lopez, Recoder, Nuñez, and Olivas. Canutillo beat Jefferson 6-2 with I. Garza, I. Melendez, E. Fargas
