Central Missouri Community Action recently launched a child care business cohort in response to the ongoing child care shortages in the state. The program, which is a part of the Missouri Women’s Business Center, will provide participants with one-on-one business coaching and educational workshops. The cohort will be held monthly on Zoom, covering essential topics related to child care business growth and start-up.

Nadia Ryakhmyatullov, a business education instructor with the Missouri Women’s Business Center, explained that the cohort includes both in-home daycares and child care centers to support a variety of participants. She emphasized that the program is designed to meet the needs and goals of each individual client through personalized coaching and support.

Ryakhmyatullov highlighted the impact of child care shortages on the workforce, explaining that mothers who struggle to find child care may have difficulty obtaining employment. In Missouri, a majority of counties are classified as child care deserts, where access to child care facilities is limited, especially for rural families. The goal of the child care business cohort is to raise awareness of the issue and collaborate with existing resources to develop sustainable solutions.
