On Thursday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador of Mexico responded to the comments made by Argentine President Javier Milei, who referred to him as “ignorant” in an interview with CNN en Español. López Obrador accused Milei of being a conservative and insulting the people, to which the Mexican president said that he did not understand how intelligent Argentines could vote for someone who was wrong and despised others.

López Obrador still does not understand why Milei made such remarks, especially considering his previous offensive statements towards other world figures, including accusing Pope Francis of being a communist. Despite this, the Mexican president did not announce any retaliatory measures against Argentina.

Milei justified his comments by citing examples of López Obrador’s past attacks on other leaders like Gustavo Petro, President of Colombia. The Mexican president reiterated his confusion as to why Argentines voted for someone who has made disparaging remarks about important figures like Pope Francis.

In conclusion, despite the ongoing exchange of words between Milei and López Obrador, the Mexican president did not announce any official action against Argentina. López Obrador has previously emphasized that he would not sever ties with Argentina despite any differences between the two leaders.
