In recognition of National Small Business Week, the Small Business Administration is highlighting small businesses across New York. Among these businesses is Comb Grown Mead, a new Auburn-based meadery that produces alcoholic beverages made from fermenting honey diluted with water.

Comb Grown Mead was founded by Elaina Ferrier in the summer of 2023 in Auburn. As a mother of two who started her business venture while pregnant, Elaina acknowledges the challenges of balancing motherhood with entrepreneurship. She emphasizes the importance of supporting fellow female entrepreneurs who manage their businesses while taking care of their families.

Despite the difficulties of juggling family life and business ownership, Elaina finds joy in being a part of the local community and networking with other small business owners. Being a business owner has allowed Elaina to turn her dream into reality and become a valuable contributor to her community. She appreciates the opportunity to be part of a network of small business owners who support one another in their entrepreneurial endeavors.
