On Saturday, Los Angeles County health officials issued an exposure warning about a traveler with measles who visited various locations in the county between March 30 and April 1. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health received information from the California Department of Public Health about the individual, who was not a resident of the county.
During those three days, the traveler visited nearly a dozen locations, mostly in Universal City and at the Sheraton hotel near L.A. International Airport. According to health officials, the person visited Universal’s trolley and several rides, as well as the Sheraton’s gym and local restaurants. However, there are still other possible exposure locations that are currently being investigated.
The full list of locations is available for reference, but anyone who visited these exposure locations on the specified days is advised to verify that they have been vaccinated against measles. The disease can be spread through the air and direct contact, even before symptoms are present, and can lead to severe illness. Los Angeles County Health Officer Muntu Davis emphasized the highly contagious nature of measles for those who are not immune to it. Symptoms can appear up to three weeks after exposure.
