The City of Cincinnati is considering taking legal action against a Camp Washington business’ liquor permit renewal after receiving numerous complaints from residents and reports of police calls for service. Residents have expressed their concerns to city council members about Legacy Lounge, citing issues such as late-night disturbances, loud music, and public urination incidents. Sydney Prigge from the Camp Washington Urban Revitalization Corporation has stated that tenants are moving out due to the nuisances caused by the nightclub.

Despite being open for only a few months, Legacy Lounge has faced criticism for the disturbances associated with its location from previous businesses. Stephanie Harper, who works at the nightclub, defended the establishment by stating that she has implemented changes to create a safe environment for patrons. These changes include hiring additional security personnel and installing security cameras inside and outside the premises.

However, the city has noted several concerning incidents since the new ownership took over, including a shots fired call in February. Police responded to the call and found conflicting information from security at Legacy regarding the location of the shots. Sgt. Zach Sterbling from CPD’s Vice Squad expressed concerns about the nightclub’s response to the incident. As a result, city council has decided to delay a decision on the liquor permit renewal to allow the owners to address the issues with the city. The final decision will be made on April 16th before going to the Ohio Division of Liquor Control for approval.

Legacy Lounge owner John Smith has stated that he is committed to addressing these issues and working with law enforcement agencies to ensure that his business operates in compliance with all laws and regulations. He also plans to meet with community leaders and residents to address their concerns and find ways to improve their experience at Legacy Lounge.

In conclusion, while Legacy Lounge may face challenges in maintaining its license due to ongoing issues with noise levels and disturbances, it is essential for businesses operating in urban areas like Cincinnati to work closely with law enforcement agencies and community stakeholders to maintain safety standards while still providing entertainment options for residents.
