The CAA World Congress of Sports was held at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live from April 15-17, with over a thousand sports business executives in attendance from around the world. Industry leaders discussed a range of topics, including the growth of women’s sports and fan engagement patterns.
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman spoke about the future of the Arizona Coyotes and the trend of institutional capital and private equity in sports business. MLS Commissioner Don Garber, U.S. Soccer Federation President Cindy Parlow Cone, and Concacaf President Victor Montagliani talked about the global growth of women’s soccer.
The 2024 class of Champions in Sports Business, which included individuals like Mike Aresco and Stan Kasten, was recognized during the conference. ESPN’s Mina Kimes, AXS President Bryan Perez, and DraftKings co-founder Jason Robins discussed ways to attract younger audiences to sports through experiences.
Other highlights from the conference included Christian Lau discussing LAFC’s biometrics program, Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin’s views on the company’s media ambitions, and Cosm CEO Jeb Terry announcing the opening of Hollywood Park venue with UFC 303 featuring Conor McGregor.
Speakers at the event included Megan Hughes Allison, Andrew Stroth, Jennifer Prince, Christine Wylie, and Kimberly Cantor. Washington Spirit owner Michele Kang, MLB SVP Uzma Rawn, and Joe Becher of CAA Search were also present at the conference.
