The recently concluded Jazz Fest in New Orleans was a resounding success, with attendees praising the pleasant weather and minimal rain. The festival drew close to half a million people, resulting in 97% of the city’s hotel rooms being occupied. Despite the challenges of getting outbound flights, many visitors decided to extend their stay in the city.
The economic impact of the festival was estimated to be around $400 million, with tourists shopping in the French Quarter and supporting local businesses. Renowned Jazz Fest poster artist, Terrance Osborne, expressed that this year was one of the best for selling his signature art at the festival. He enjoyed the pleasant weather with some clouds providing relief from the scorching heat.
Vendors are currently dismantling their temporary but profitable stands on the Fair Grounds infield. The festival spanned eight full days, with headliners like the Rolling Stones performing on Thursday – possibly the biggest act in Jazzfest history. Despite not being able to attend without working at his art booth, Osborne plans to participate again next year along with loyal customers who promise to return, even if the Rolling Stones are not part of the lineup.
