The Jaguars have signed free agent pass rusher Josh Allen to a five-year, $150 million contract with $88 million guaranteed. This deal makes him one of the highest-paid defenders in the NFL, according to multiple reports.

Allen, who turned 26 last year, had a standout performance in 2021. He played in all 17 games and recorded an impressive 17.5 sacks, earning his first Pro Bowl selection. His exceptional play on the field solidified his status as one of the league’s top pass rushers.

The timing was perfect for Allen to negotiate a lucrative contract as a free agent. Originally drafted by the Jaguars from the University of Kentucky in 2019 as the seventh overall pick, Allen has proven to be a vital part of the team’s defense. After playing out his rookie deal and receiving the franchise tag last month, Allen’s long-term commitment highlights Jacksonville’s commitment to building a competitive team for years to come. With Allen leading the defense, Jacksonville is well-positioned to establish itself as a contender in the league for years to come.
