On the eve of Easter, several unions in Italy are calling for a boycott of purchases from large chains. The Filcams-Cgil, Fisascat-Cisl, and UILTUCS unions are urging employees to participate in a strike scheduled for March 30th as a response to the breakdown of negotiations with Federdistribuzione for the renewal of the National Labor Contract that expired in 2019.

According to the unions, Federdistribuzione has shown intolerance towards contracts and has made requests that undermine the rights and guarantees established in the National Collective Labor Agreement. They are accusing the organization of irresponsibility and are calling for a day of strike action to protest these actions. The unions are mobilizing over 240,000 employees across various sectors of commercial distribution to participate in the strike.

As part of the strike action, the unions are urging consumers to boycott shopping in branded stores associated with Federdistribuzione. Some of the stores included in the boycott are Carrefour, Ikea, Lidl, Zara, and many others. By refraining from shopping at these stores on the day of the strike, consumers can show their support for the workers and their demands for fair labor practices.
