The Italian government has authorized several philatelic issues today, as proposed by Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso. The stamp program includes commemorative and celebratory postal stamps for the year 2024, highlighting notable figures in Italian history.

The stamps honor individuals from various fields such as politics, arts, literature, philosophy, and science. Some of the famous names recognized include Saint Thomas Aquinas, Guglielmo Marconi, Silvio Berlusconi, Giuseppe Tatarella, Giacomo Puccini, Eleonora Duse, Giovanni Gentile, Marsilio Ficino and Sante Zennaro.

In addition to political figures and historical personalities, the stamps also recognize lesser-known individuals who have played important roles in shaping Italy’s past and present. For example, Alberto Manzi is recognized for his contributions to education while Carlo Melograni is honored for his work in architecture.

The stamp program aims to shed light on the diverse range of contributions made by these figures and events to Italy’s cultural heritage. It highlights significant events and milestones in Italian history such as the first law on patents, the Italian presidency of the G7, and the voyage of the Amerigo Vespucci and Marco Polo ships.

The announcement of a stamp dedicated to former President Silvio Berlusconi has been met with appreciation from political figures within Forza Italia. This decision aims to honor Berlusconi’s multifaceted impact on Italian society as an entrepreneur
