Covington Mayor Joe Meyer recently released the city’s 2023 economic impact report, highlighting the importance of supporting small businesses in the community. The report shows that the City of Covington has invested more than $76,000 in small business incentives since 2017, including rent subsidies and funding to improve the aesthetics of businesses.

One such business owner who has benefited from these initiatives is Melyssa Mosier, owner of Grainwell. She shared how a rent subsidy helped her business during the pandemic by providing financial support and driving business to their door. Mosier, who has been in business with her sister for almost a decade, has witnessed the transformation of Covington firsthand. She noted that when they initially opened their business, there was not much activity in the city, but they were aware of the City of Covington’s revitalization plans.

The report also highlights planned developments at the former IRS site and along the riverfront in Covington. These investments in small businesses and urban redevelopment projects are seen as crucial to ensuring the continued progress and attractiveness of Covington as a destination for residents and visitors alike. The complete report can be accessed for more information on the city’s economic impact and future plans.
