The six-month anniversary of the conflict in Israel was marked by President Isaac Herzog, who referred to it as a “bloody and difficult war.” The president lamented the loss of 1,170 lives, mostly civilians, in the attack that sparked the ongoing conflict.

The retaliatory offensive by Israel against Hamas has resulted in the deaths of at least 33,137 people in Gaza, with tens of thousands still displaced from their homes. Of the 250 hostages seized by Palestinian militants, only 129 have been released while 34 are presumed dead.

Herzog emphasized the devastating impact of the conflict on both Israelis and Palestinians alike. He described it as a crime against humanity and urged all parties involved to work towards a peaceful resolution. Tens of thousands of Israelis took to the streets to protest against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s handling of the war.

In addition to Elad Katzir’s body being recovered, there have been other incidents that have added to the tensions between Israelis and Palestinians. The recent violence has caused immense suffering and loss for both sides. As we approach this anniversary, it is important for all parties involved to come together and work towards finding a just solution that respects human rights and ensures peace and security for all.
