The Glens Falls District Office of the New York State Department of Health is currently conducting an investigation into a drowning incident that occurred at an indoor waterpark in Queensbury, New York over the weekend. A 5-year-old girl from Hudson was discovered unresponsive in the water at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. The young girl was quickly transported to an Albany hospital by Life Net and is currently in stable condition.
Drowning incidents at regulated bathing facilities in New York are typically investigated by local health departments or state district offices. Monica Pomeroy, a public information officer with the state health department, confirmed via email that this specific incident is being looked into by the department’s Glens Falls District Office. However, as the investigation is ongoing, the department refrained from providing further comments at this time.
Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark opened its doors in 2006 and is owned by Six Flags. In response to the emergency, West Glens Falls EMS, Queensbury Central Fire, and the New York State Police all assisted the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. The collaboration between these entities helped expedite the response to the incident at the waterpark.
