The US Commerce Department recently announced that it will provide Intel Corporation with $20 billion in grants and loans to build chip factories using advanced technologies. This includes $8.5 billion in grants and $11 billion in preferential loans as part of the Chip Act, with the goal of ensuring the United States’ independence from foreign semiconductor manufacturers. New Intel plants are currently under construction in Arizona, New Mexico, Ohio, and Oregon, with the Ohio plant expected to become the world’s largest manufacturer of chips for artificial intelligence technologies. The corporation plans to invest a total of $100 billion in building facilities in various states across the US.
