In northeast Oklahoma, Parents Helping Parents, Inc., a non-profit organization, has teamed up with other organizations to bring mental health and substance abuse resources to rural communities through the Hope on Wheels bus tour. This collaborative effort was initiated in response to feedback from residents in these areas who expressed a need for more support options.

Partnerships with organizations like Grand Mental Health, Stonegate Center, and the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services have enabled the bus tour to make stops in 7 towns across northeast Oklahoma. During these visits, community members can access information about available resources related to mental health and substance abuse.

Tara Carr, the director of marketing and outreach for Parents Helping Parents, Inc., emphasized the importance of increasing awareness about existing support services in smaller towns and communities. The goal of the bus tour is to inform individuals about the resources that may be available to them, even if they are not located in their immediate vicinity.

This is the first time Parents Helping Parents, Inc. has organized a bus tour of this kind. By promoting resources in nearby towns, the organization aims to provide people with options for seeking help and assistance. The bus tour is scheduled for April 18 and 19, with stops in various towns including Sapulpa, Bartlesville, Nowata, Claremore, Wagoner, Muskogee, and Shawnee. These visits will offer community members the opportunity to learn about and access resources that can support their mental health and substance abuse needs.
