Honor, a leading smartphone manufacturer, has experienced significant growth since separating from Huawei in 2020. Ray Guo, global marketing director at Honor, spoke to the media at their headquarters in Shenzhen about their focus on innovation and recent success in the smartphone market.

Guo highlighted Honor’s recent achievements, including being ranked among the top five producers in Europe and their plans for continued growth in 2023. He emphasized the importance of innovation in their product development and shared that they are working on new phones, operating systems, and AI technologies to stay ahead of the competition.

When asked about potential expansion into other markets such as electric cars, Guo clarified that Honor is currently focused solely on smartphones and has no plans to enter the electric car market. He reiterated Honor’s commitment to partnerships with companies like Qualcomm and Google to drive innovation and improve user experiences.

Guo also discussed the role of artificial intelligence in smartphones and noted the distinction between “smartphone AI” and “AI phone.” He emphasized the importance of hardware in conjunction with AI technologies to enhance overall smartphone performance.

Despite their success, Guo acknowledged the challenges of building a brand post-separation from Huawei but expressed confidence in Honor’s ability to continue growing with a focus on innovation and user experience. He stressed the importance of partnerships and collaboration in driving future developments in the smartphone industry.
