On April 13th, in the Dak To Re commune of Kon Ray district, Kon Tum province, a tragic car accident occurred involving a passenger car carrying a delegation of Ho Chi Minh City Market Management officials and a tractor-trailer. Drs. Nguyen Van Giap and Luong Hai Yen, both working at Hung Vuong General Hospital in Gia Lai, happened to be driving motorbikes and were the first medical staff on the scene.

The doctors provided immediate care to multiple victims before the ambulance arrived. One of the victims was in a coma with no pulse, and Dr. Yen performed chest compressions on the spot to revive their heartbeat. She continued CPR in the car while heading to the hospital. Experts emphasized the importance of timely intervention in cases of out-of-hospital circulatory arrest, as it can prevent death or permanent brain damage if treated quickly and properly.

For their heroic actions, Drs. Giap and Yen were commended by Hung Vuong Gia Lai Hospital and received certificates of merit from the Vietnam Private Hospital Association. Mr. Pham Van Hoc, General Director of Hung Vuong Gia Lai Hospital, praised their dedication to saving lives and serving as exemplary figures for others in the medical field. The hospital honored their efforts to encourage more acts of compassion and prompt rescue in emergency situations.

In addition to the hospital’s recognition, Drs. Giap and Yen were awarded certificates of merit by the Vietnam Private Hospital Association for their prompt response in rescuing victims and minimizing fatalities.

Their brave actions set a positive example for others, highlighting the importance of quick and efficient medical intervention in life-threatening situations.

Dr. Giap shared that any medical staff encountering such a situation would rush to save the victims.
