A recent case involving a 42-year-old man from Hai Phong has raised concerns among medical professionals due to his symptoms of a dull headache, fever, and hearing loss. The patient had a history of consuming raw and undercooked pork, including fermented pork rolls. Doctors from the Department of Tropical Diseases at Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital explained that the patient’s infection was likely a result of his dietary habits. In addition to fever and headache, he experienced hearing loss in his left ear, which can be a long-term complication of meningitis caused by swine streptococcus. After two weeks of treatment, his symptoms subsided, and his hearing slightly improved.
