Google has announced that it will be discontinuing its virtual private network (VPN) service, which was included in Google One, by the end of this year. The VPN service was launched in Spain in 2021 and aimed to protect users and network operators from malicious attacks by masking IP addresses. Initially available only to Premium Google One subscribers, it later expanded to all subscription plans across various devices like Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac.

However, due to low usage by users, the decision was made to phase out the service. Users will receive an email notification about the change and can continue using the VPN connection until the specified end date. Google has not provided a specific date for the service’s closure. Pixel 7 or higher device users will still be able to access Google’s VPN as it will be integrated into their smartphones rather than through Google One.
