Good Girl Brewing Co. is set to open its doors in Aiken on May 7. The brewery, located at 880 Banks Mill Road S.E., will offer craft beer brewed on-site and a menu of food options. The establishment is housed in a renovated building that was previously home to Found Treasures, an antiques and collectibles store that closed in 2020.

The owners of Good Girl Brewing Co., Andrew and Rachael Phifer, along with friends Paul and Morgan Batton and Rachael’s parents, have faced numerous challenges and expenses in getting the business up and running, including zoning permits, material costs, loan approvals, and construction delays. Despite these obstacles, they have prioritized doing things right and to the best of their abilities, resulting in a project they can be proud of.

In other news, Powderhouse Apartments in Aiken has been sold to Maki Developments LLC for $2.3 million. The transaction was completed on March 19, with Maki Developments, a newly formed company based in New York, taking over ownership of the multifamily residential complex located at 3037 Old Powderhouse Road. The 10.1-acre property changed hands earlier this year.

Meanwhile, the Dollar General Store at 132 Rudy Mason Parkway in Aiken has recently introduced a selection of produce for sale. The store’s remodeling allowed for the addition of fresh fruits and vegetables to its offerings. Dollar General aims to be a positive business partner and a good community neighbor in Aiken, according to Matthew Simonsen, the company’s senior vice president of real estate and store development.
