In April, which is known as “Child Abuse Prevention Month”, the Alliance for Children has designated Friday, April 5 as “Go Blue Day” to raise awareness and support for preventing child abuse. This initiative encourages people to wear blue in solidarity with the cause.

A local business in Red Bluff teamed up with Tehema County 4 Kids, an organization dedicated to promoting awareness and community education to prevent child abuse and neglect. Erica Atwell and Michelle McNeal, co-owners of Sip Coffee Bar on Walnut Street, decided to donate 30% of their proceeds on April 5 to support this cause. By the end of the day, they had raised $350.

Atwell and McNeal were delighted with the community’s response to their initiative and hope to make it an annual event. They are grateful for the opportunity to give back and engage with the community. The owners expressed their joy in being able to support such an important cause.

Tehama County 4 Kids welcomes anyone who is interested in joining the child abuse prevention council to attend their meetings, which take place at the Department for Education building in Red Bluff on the third Wednesday of each month from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled for April 17. They encourage community participation to help prevent child abuse and make a positive impact on children’s lives.
