Mercedes-Benz, a well-known German car manufacturer, has recently issued a global recall of about 341,000 vehicles due to a potential fire hazard. According to a report by the supervisory authority Kraftfahrt-Bundesamts (KBA), the affected vehicles are from the GLE and GLS models manufactured between 2017 and 2023.
Mercedes-Benz identified an issue with the ground cable located under the passenger seat in these vehicles. The problem was found that if the cable lug or mounting is not properly secured, it may become loose. This could lead to increased resistance and higher temperatures, potentially causing a fire risk. KBA stated that this issue affects approximately 341,000 cars worldwide, and Mercedes-Benz is taking immediate action to ensure customer safety.
The car manufacturer will conduct thorough inspections of all affected cars’ screw connections and make any necessary repairs to ensure safety standards are met. Mercedes-Benz Belgium is currently identifying customers affected by the recall and will reach out to them directly. Customers will be informed about the recall and scheduled for a workshop visit lasting approximately one hour. If needed, Mercedes-Benz will replace the faulty part at no cost to the customer. This decision by Mercedes-Benz demonstrates their commitment to providing safe and reliable vehicles for their customers worldwide.
