Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf Secretary-General Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi stressed the importance of a joint statement signed to initiate free trade negotiations between his organization and Turkey. The signing ceremony took place in Ankara, where Al-Budaiwi and Turkish Minister of Trade Dr. Omar Bolat agreed to start negotiations on a free trade agreement. Al-Budaiwi emphasized the need for close cooperation between Turkey and GCC countries to enhance economic relations, expand trade and investment opportunities, and promote greater collaboration.
He pointed out that GCC countries are actively pursuing negotiations for free trade agreements with other nations to open up new avenues for trade and boost economic cooperation regionally and globally. These agreements are part of their efforts to diversify their economies and income sources by creating strong markets for their goods and services.
