A Gastonia woman has pleaded guilty to fraudulently obtaining COVID-19 relief business loans and using the funds for personal expenses. The U.S. District Attorney’s Office in Charlotte stated that Kelly Bree Mosley, 48, admitted in court to misusing approximately $125,000 of PPP and EIDL loans for bills, foreign currency investments, and plastic surgery, including liposuction. Mosley acquired the loans by submitting applications for a fictitious event planning business and in her own name, providing false information such as gross revenues, payroll expenses, number of employees, and operational costs. She certified under penalty of perjury that the details were accurate when submitting the applications.
According to WCNC, Mosley was charged with fraudulently obtaining COVID-19 relief loans for personal use. The U.S. District Attorney’s Office in Charlotte disclosed that she pleaded guilty in court to using around $125,000 of PPP and EIDL funds for personal expenses. Mosley received the loans by submitting applications for a fake event planning business and with her own name, providing false information about revenues, payroll expenses, number of employees, and operational costs. She falsely claimed that the information was true under oath.
