In 2020, Fugro announced its roadmap to achieve net-zero carbon emission operations by 2035 for scopes 1 and 2. The company is actively working on transitioning to an uncrewed vessel fleet and converting one of its vessels, the Fugro Pioneer, to use green methanol as part of its sustainability efforts. Fugro’s net-zero target encompasses all three emission scopes, with the ultimate goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the value chain by 2050.

To guide its roadmap towards net-zero, Fugro has set near-term targets that include reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 emissions by 54.6% by 2033, increasing the sourcing of renewable electricity from 47% to 80% by 2025 and to 100% by 2030 for scope 2, and reducing absolute scope 3 fuel and energy-related GHG emissions by 54.6% by 2033.
