In 2024, German track star Alica Schmidt is set to make her mark on the world stage once again, as she recently qualified for the Paris Olympics. This achievement comes three years after she faced difficulties in Tokyo. Schmidt was part of the team that qualified for the mixed 4×400-meter race at the World Athletics Relays Bahamas 24. She shared her excitement about this accomplishment on her Instagram Stories, writing “From paradise to Paris.”

To celebrate their qualification, Schmidt and her teammates took a trip around Nassau and swam with pigs on the island. Despite setbacks at various championships in recent years, including missing out on a medal at the Tokyo Olympics and failing to qualify for the 2022 European Championships and World Athletics Championships, Schmidt remains determined to succeed in Paris. In fact, she took a break from the sport in 2021 but has since returned with renewed focus and was named a Forbes 30 Under 30 member in 2023.

Schmidt is an accomplished track athlete on the European circuit, having won medals at various championships.
