John Tinniswood, a British great-grandfather who fought in WWII, has been recognized as the world’s oldest man at the age of 111. He attributes his long life to eating a fish supper every Friday and following a philosophy of moderation in all things. After the deaths of Juan Vicente Perez and Gisaburō Sonobe, Mr. Tinniswood became the oldest living man in the world, following the passing of 108-year-old Harry Fransman in September 2020.

Born in 1912, the same year as the Titanic’s maiden voyage, Mr. Tinniswood will celebrate his 112th birthday on August 2nd. He has many cherished memories, including his wedding to his wife Blodwen in 1942, which lasted for 44 years until her passing in 1986. Despite his age, Mr. Tinniswood remains active and insists that sitting in a chair all day is not beneficial.

Although he has received birthday wishes from King Charles and Queen Camilla, Mr. Tinniswood’s family says he remains modest about his title as the world’s oldest man. They describe him as resilient, with a love for life, good humor, and an amazing survival instinct. Maria Morena from Spain holds the title of the world’s oldest living person at age 117
